~ Good to Know ~

Explaining our apple-shaped icons:

(which appears on all our product descriptions and labelling.)

We help our customers make informed choices. To keep our customers fully aware of what’s in our products, full ingredients details are noted in our listings and of course on the product packaging. In addition, we add easy identifiable symbols showing that products contain no known allergens, and whether they have dye, foam or shimmer.

We have been taking eco-conscious steps to make changes which includes the reduction of single use plastics:

All our jars are PET plastic which is classed as #1 for ease of being widely recyclable.

Our Trio outer box is made from recycled PET plastic and again is widely recyclable.

We have a bath bomb Refill Station.

We use Glassine paper for our refill bags, party bags, sample bags and Casualty Corner.  Glassine is made from sustainable sources without any chemical process.

We use compostable/biodegradable wrap on our gift bag packaging.

For those who choose gift wrap, we wrap our boxes using biodegradable and recyclable paper, tied with paper ribbon.

We use clean discarded packaging from local businesses to pack our orders for sending out in the post.

We use paper tape on all our packaging parcels.

There’s only one planet Earth. We are environmentally aware but not yet environmentally perfect however, we will continue to challenge our processes and make changes where we can.

Bath Products:

In accordance with regulation 1223/2009, before any cosmetic or toiletry product can be sold in the UK, it must be tested for safety by a certified chemist to ensure that each ingredient is safe to use, in the right proportions, and for the purpose intended.

Pomme d’Or holds a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) for every item, and variation thereof, listed on our website.

Fragrance allergens:

It is a legal requirement to declare the fragrance allergens in any cosmetic product. This is because certain fragrance ingredients, whether natural or synthetic, have the potential to cause skin sensitisation.

We are very aware that our bath bombs appeal to children as well as adults and so it’s important for us to keep our ingredients list as simple and gentle as possible. There are 26 known allergenic substances listed in the current cosmetics regulations and we ensure that ALL our fragrances we use in our bath bombs and soap do not have them in.

This is something we decided to do right from the very start. With so many fragrances on the market, it’s not a simple task to find ones which meet our strict criteria, whilst still smelling beautiful with lasting scent, but it’s a task we willingly undertake to ensure that our bath bombs are as kind to sensitive skin as possible.

Please click on the following link if you wish to see a list of the 26 known allergenic substances currently listed in Annex III of EU Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009.

Home Fragrance:

(Reed Diffusers, Room Mist Sprays, Toilet Fizzies)

Pomme d’Or complies with the Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulations (CLP) 1272/2008 which is applicable to all home fragrance products. In addition to the standardised fire safety warnings, all products must be clearly labelled with any hazard and/or precautionary statements.

Our complete range of Home Fragrance products are made using only allergen-free fragrances.

Our shimmering bath bombs are free of any type of micro plastics.

We use a synthetic version of the mineral Mica. The advantages of using Synthetic Fluorphlogopite are that it’s made in a lab, giving a more consistent quality with no sharp edges, has fewer impurities and has a lower heavy metal content than that of mined Mica. And reassuringly, being lab-made, removes the worry over child labour in the mining of natural Mica.

Where we’re normally great advocates of natural ingredients, we feel this ethically sourced ingredient, with no ecotoxicology or skin concerns*, is the safer substitute, as agreed by industry giants.
